Electromagnetic brake board for STEP400
Some stepper motors are built with an electromagnetic brake. Stepper motors normally have a holding torque to hold the load even when stopped, but if the power is lost, the holding force is lost and the load will fall if it is suspended. An electromagnetic brake is a device that locks the shaft of a motor and only releases the shaft when it is energized, so that in the event of an unexpected power failure, the shaft is immediately locked and the load is prevented from moving or falling. This is especially necessary when the load is traveling vertically.
When using a stepping motor with an electromagnetic brake, it is necessary to release/lock the electromagnetic brake depending on the status of the motor.
This electromagnetic brake add-on board is designed to control the electromagnetic brake in conjunction with STEP400.
